So, I helped (and I use that word loosely because it always seems to be under control when I get there) Angie. I played Uno with Christian and a fifth grade boy, Ian. I lost both times. I met Andre who is absolutely adorable. And a woman and mother won the spa gift certificate I contributed. Oh, how I love God and the peace He brings when you [I] do His work.

So, I asked Ian (or he volunteered, I cannot remember) to be the photographer. I haven’t looked over the pictures, and since I have lost the device I need to connect the camera to the computer, it appears I will not really see how well he did until later (hopefully sooner). When that happens, I’ll post them.

• This ministry of Chets Creek Church began last year and is still in the beginning stages. Angie Coutts leads this ministry which involves on-site Bible studies, after-school tutoring, and other outreach activities.

• This community center is the site of a new Chets-assisted Celebrate Recovery ministry and outreach location for Abundant Faith Fellowship, the newest church plant of Chets.

And, something unrelated: I think this may be my favorite verse in Scripture

not for its inspirational value, just its relevance, the way it speaks to me, like it is mine to claim:

“If some of the branches were broken off, and you, a wild olive shoot, were grafted in their place to share the rich root of the olive tree, so not boast over the branches. If you do boast, remember that it is not you that supports the root, but the the root that supports you.”

This is from Romans, the 11th chapter, and is speaking to Gentiles (as opposed to the “natural branches”- Hebrews), but in a broader sense to anyone who has come to Christianity. And that is me. I assume that is most of you. I’m a wild olive shoot. And what a gift I have been given. I pray to my Father that I now only boast in Him, growing alone and uncontrollably, madly until I was so lovingly grafted on to the branch.

And- praise the Lord!- I can now grow in the fruits of the Spirit, with “love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control” (Galatians 5:22-23). Oh, how I love when things connect.
